Audi Reports Record November Sales

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Audi of America, Inc. today reported sales of 9,209 for the month of November, making it the best November in the company's history. Sales are up 16.4% over the same period in 2005. For the calendar year to date, Audi sales total 78,219, up 5.4% over 2005. Audi is on pace to set a sales record this year.

The Audi A4 and Audi Q7 models set the sales pace for the brand. A4 sales totaled 5,124, an increase of 13.0% year-over-year, and consumers purchased 2,019 Audi Q7 SUVs. Since its launch in June, sales of the Audi Q7 have reached 7,682 units.

"Consumers have three great reasons to put the Audi A4 on their shopping lists," said Johan de Nysschen, Executive Vice President of Audi of America. "The A4 was recently named a 'Top Safety Pick' by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the A4 delivers class-leading residuals, and when equipped with the 2.0 liter TFSI engine, the A4 has best-in-class fuel economy."

Audi Certified Pre-Owned sales also closed the month strong.

Body Kit and Kaboodle: The PPI Audi Q7

The Audi Q7 is becoming one of the most heavily messed-with SUV models in tuner-shop history. This time, it's PPI who's doing the tweaking -- first with a body kit, then with three stages of engine tuning, up to 600 hp. All they've got to show is a few digitally enhanced images, but we'd imagine some footballer or other will show up at the next World Cup afterparty in a real one. – Mike Spinelli

Lexus GS450h fails Auto Motor und Sport braking test

I've noticed a lot of people criticizing the Lexus GS for poor brakes on this website. Today, my Auto Motor und Sport arrived and they had a test of a bunch of cars including the Lexus GS450h in there. Specifically, they wanted to test the braking distance and quality of the brakes. The GS placed 8/10, with the last two cars being midsized SUV's (Hyundai Santa Fe / Chevrolet Captiva). The GS brakes were described as weak and having a delayed response time. The brake pedal was also lifeless and offered no feedback. The Results (The word in the parenthesis indicates the AMS description of the brakes / braking distance)1st Place: Audi Q7 4.2 FSI (Good)2nd Place: Toyota Yaris 1.3 (Good)3rd Place: VW Eos 2.0 TFSI Good)4th Place: Peugeot 207 110 Sport Good)5th Place: Mercedes E220 CDI Good)6th Place: Ford S-Max 2.0 TDCI Good)7th Place: Fiat Grande Punto 1.9 JTD Sport (Adequate)8th Place: Lexus GS450h (Poor)9th Place: Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 CRDI (Poor)10th Place: Chevrolet Captiva (Poor)I thought you guys would like to read about this.

Audi Q7 - blocking light from my neighbour's lounge

I've never felt embarrassed behind the wheel of an Audi before. Cool? Yes. Sophisticated? Often. Smug? Perhaps just a little, but squirming in a "Please understand this isn't my car they made me drive it" kind of way? Never. But I felt thoroughly ashamed driving around in the new Audi Q7. It's not just the sheer scale of the thing that made me cringe when it arrived outside my house and dwarfed all the other cars - even some of the buildings - while blocking the light from my neighbours' lounge .
