S. Harrison plans purchase of SUV
SOUTH HARRISON TWP. The township plans to purchase a 2007 Dodge Durango for its part-time police department, replacing one of two vehicles that have amassed more than 115,000 miles.
Currently, the township police force has five vehicles in its fleet, including one Dodge Durango that has proven its usefulness in this rural township, Police Chief Warren Mabey said.
"We can use it in the winter time, in ice and snow," said Mabey. "We had Chevy Impalas, and it was virtually impossible to get to some calls."
The $26,756 cost of the Durango will be allocated from the capital improvement fund before year's end, the chief said.
Fully equipped, the SUV will cost the township only $2,000 more than the typical Crown Victoria police cruiser, Mabey explained.
Man receives minor injury in crash with Fire Department vehicle
The Dodge Durango pickup had been driving ahead of other vehicles in intersections with its lights and sirens on but came to a stop at the intersection at Bert Kouns Industrial Loop because the light was red, which is department policy, Crawford said. After checking for traffic, the driver said he saw no vehicles and continued heading south, when a four-door Pontiac sedan then crashed into the Durango.
The driver of the sedan, Andy Davis, 36, was taken by ambulance to Willis Knighton Medical Center South, Crawford said. Authorities think Davis' thumb may have been injured from his airbag deploying.
Capt. Todd Cash, a Fire Department EMS shift supervisor, was taken to Willis Knighton South by his supervisor as is department protocol, Crawford said. He did not appear to be injured.

Spy Photos: 2008 Dodge Dakota
Straightline's got a picture of what they're claiming is the new Dodge Dakota, refreshed for the 2008 model year. Although the Dakota no longer shares a platform with the Durango, the Ram-brand's full-size SUV, you can definitely see where it's taking styling cues from another Dodge product, the Nitro. Yup, it's got that same grille that only a mother could love -- a blind mother that is. But at least, according to Straightline, you'll be able to drive blind ol' mom around with a bit more power as they're claiming the mid-size will receive an upgrade to the new 4.0-liter V6 as the base engine configuration -- plus some power boosts for those with the bank to step into a truck with V8 power. – Ray Wert

Suspect drug dealers nabbed at market in Walden
Walden - When the Dodge Durango pulled into the Thruway Market, the authorities were already there, ready to wrap up a four-month investigation into crack cocaine sales.
Village of Walden police, along with a K-9 unit from the Orange County Sheriffs Office, stopped the SUV and searched driver Lance Faison, 29, and his girlfriend, the Durangos owner, Twana Bodison, 29, both from the Town of Newburgh. Police said they found an eight-ball, one-eighth ounce of crack cocaine, in Bodisons bra and a combined $562 between the couple.
The pair were charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, police said. Faison was also charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
Police said Bodison was released, but Faison was sent to Orange County Jail with no bail.
Last-Minute Shopping Turns Ugly In Store Shooting
(CBS) PERRIS, Calif. The last-minute Christmas shopping rush turned ugly Sunday in Perris when one man shot and wounded another in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store, according to the sheriff's department. The two men began arguing inside the Wal-Mart at 2650 N. Perris Blvd. just after 1 p.m., said Riverside County sheriff's investigator Matt Diaz. The argument moved outside, where one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other three times. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. Authorities are looking for a 5-foot-6-inch heavyset Hispanic in his mid 20s with a shaved head and a mustache. He was wearing black shorts and left the scene in a Black Dodge Durango, possibly accompanied by two other men. The store remained open for business following the shooting.
Jalopnik Reviews: 2007 Ford Shelby Cobra GT500, Part 1
Ford's Shelby GT500 is the real, vulgarian deal. Sure, its faults are numerous: It's too fat (3,920 lbs.) and too much of that lard is near the nose (58/42 front-rear split); the ride is utter garbage; the transmission feels like it's made from old nautical rope, and above 80 mph the road noise is like the inside of a dumpster that's being slammed by drunks with aluminum bats. And who cares? Certainly not me. True, a Dodge Viper will wend its way around a track faster, but when the Shelby catches up, it'll slash the Dodge's tires and piss in its gas tank.
There isn't much to this 'Stang except engine. Beneath the bulged hood resides a 5.4-liter block of pig iron, topped with aluminum heads from the Ford GT and finished with an Eaton supercharger and intercooler setup. Altogether, this badassed chorus produces 500 hp and 480 lbs.
Another Ferrari FXX on eBay
When Ferrari sold 29 FXXs last year, only very special fans of the prancing horse were invited to buy. After writing $1.8 million checks, each of those FXX owners were treated like Ferrari factory test drivers, their cars shuttled to European tracks by the manufacturer, maintained by Ferrari mechanics and, if desired, stored at the Maranello test track.Because of all the exclusivity connected with FXX ownership, purchasers also had to sign contracts requiring Ferrari permission for any FXX to ever be sold. That's why it's rather surprising to see another one show up on eBay. Possibly even more surprising is the odometer reading of only 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). Who buys an FXX and never takes advantage of track time in Maranello? The eBay listing is by MDM Eurotics, but doesn't reveal the car's VIN or owner, so we may never know.Bidding began at the bargain basement price of $750,000, and as of very early this morning, the price on the pristine supercar had reached $2.7 million.
