All-New 2007 MINI Hardtops Even More Fuel Efficient According to ...
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- In light of increasing fuel prices, many manufacturers are striving to produce vehicles with an average fuel economy of 30 miles per gallon. The fact that the all-new 2007 MINI Cooper achieves 40 miles per gallon according to the latest EPA testing should be welcomed by car buyers across the US. And that the MINI Cooper delivers this miserly fuel economy with no effect on its performance and driving capabilities is an added advantage.
MINI USA's growth in sales over the past 5 years to just over 170,000 cars and the overall growth trend of the small-car market demonstrates how the industry is responding to the need for increased efficiency. MINI is a prime example that buyers do not need to sacrifice performance, quality and fun when opting for a smaller, more efficient vehicle.
Dodge Dart GTS Muscle Car Junior
Mention the words “muscle car" to most enthusiasts and they conjure visions of Tri-Power GTOs, Hemi Road Runners and 454 Chevelles. True, the big block pavement pounders did make up the majority of the market, but they were also the favorite targets of insurance companies. If the engine exceeded 400 cubic inches, it was a sure bet a hefty surcharge was added to the premium. Many an under 21 consumer was faced with insurance premiums that outstripped the monthly payments. Uncontrollable insurance payments in the late 1960s were one of the contributing causes of why the muscle car market literally imploded in less than two years.
There were however, alternatives to the mega cube monsters that provided more than adequate performance and cost considerably less. These were compacts with smaller, high performance engines that remained under the insurance company's radar screens.
Cage-y moves
He announced this week that once his upcoming slate of films is done, he's going to take a break from acting to pursue writing and "other interests."
The Oscar winner lashed out at former pal Sean Penn a few years back when Penn, and others, criticized Cage for "squandering" his acting talent on action movies.
Cage responded that, while they weren't exactly artistic craft, they were a means to an end. He said actors have a limited window in which to make big bucks on blockbuster films, and he was taking full advantage of that so he could then return to the quirky art-film roles that made him famous.
Even back when Cage and I were on the set of Trapped in Paradise - a comedy filmed, partly, in Fergus, Ont. - he explained that this was exactly his plan. He intended to do mainstream comedies and, he hoped, blockbuster comic book adaptations to give him the box-office clout to then do whatever he wanted - including racing his Ferrari F40 and his Lamborghini, once owned by the late Shah of Iran, around a track near Los Angeles.
Affordable Ferrari?
Before our eagle-eyed readers start firing letters off to our editors, let us be clear that we know the Enzo is the fastest and most powerful sports car ever to emerge from the house that Enzo Ferrari built. That said, if you're talking "reasonable" price and "high" volume - all relative terms, of course - it would likely be hard to beat the new F599 GTB Fiorano, the long-awaited replacement for the 575M Maranello.
Hard as it might imagine, the new sports coupe might actually qualify as a daily driver, as a factory team set out to demonstrate by driving a pair of F599s all the way from the far end of Brazil all the way to New York City, where they wrapped up the Panamerica 20,000 earlier this month.
The sleek shape of the new coupe sweeps from the low, aggressive nose across a bulging hoodline, and back to its broad, rear fenders.

The Charger Srt-8 Gets A "Factory- Slick Upgrade" From Top Customizers
Andy Warhol came close with his declaration that everyone, in his or her lifetime, would get 15 minutes in the celebrity sun. If TV and tabloids are accurate indicators, certainly any schmuck is capable of an audience under the bright lights - it just may last a little longer than Warhol could have imagined.
Thus we have the Cult of Celebrity Installer, a trend sparked and stoked by shows like Pimp My Ride and Unique Whips, and magazines like the one spanned across your fingers. So we're always impressed when we meet an installer who expends great effort to cover his tracks and make himself invisible to all but the most discriminate and trained eye.
UK blessed with right-hand drive 300C SRT-8 Touring
We recently had a discussion amongst the AB staff about our idea of the perfect go-anywhere, do-anything dream car. We started with exotics and supercars and then started to get realistic and talk shifted to more versatile and practical cars that are still fun to drive. The Hemi Magnum was mentioned more than once during that chat. And Chrysler's Estate version of the 300C is very similar, but with a slightly more elegant visage. We also know of a Ferrari F40 owner who swears that his SRT-8 Mopar is just as much fun to drive as his f-car. Why do we mention this? To be cordial, and to remind everyone of how wonderful these cars and wagons can be. Well, the Brits are now getting a chance to sample some more of that wonder as well, via the release of the 300C SRT-8 estate in right-hand drive.Starting next year, the Touring version of the 300C SRT-8 will be available to UK customers with a base price of £40,990.
Bonhams at Gstaad 17th December 2006 The Ferrari & Maserati Sale ...
Bonhams finished off the year with a solid performance at Gstaad with around 66% of the motor car entries sold, the highlight of which being the ex-Briggs Cunningham Le Mans Team, 1962 Maserati Tipo 151 for CHF 2,046,097.
As we previewed, the outwardly similar (but lacking the other cars recorded provenance) 1964-type Maserati Tipo 151/3 fetched a much smaller figure (CHF 282,528) but the other two ex-Rosso Bianco Collection Maserati sports racers went well; CHF 712,398 for the 1961 Maserati Tipo 63 rear-engined Birdcage and CHF 932,844 achieved by the 1965 Maserati Tipo 65.
Of the other competition machinery, the 1955 Ferrari 750 Monza didnt sell, nor did the 1993 Ferrari F40 Competition, but a fair - from both sides - price was reached for the 2004 Ferrari 575GTC Competizione, a piece of recent Ferrari GT racing history and a car that could be entered in current sports car championships going for CHF 640,753, thats just under 270,000.
Brakes on bankrolls at Bonhams
"LET me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me," wrote F Scott Fitzgerald. Legend has it that Ernest Hemingway responded: "Yes. They have more money than us." Well, as last Sunday's Bonhams auction in Switzerland showed, there's a reason they have more money -- it's because they spend it very carefully.
