Man crashes during getaway, spills load of pot across road
A Mexican man was apprehended by Border Patrol agents Wednesday after he fled from authorities and rolled his truck spilling marijuana across a roadway south of Amado near Interstate 19, an official said.
The man, whose identity was not released, could face multiple charges including transportation of narcotics, said Gustavo Soto, a spokesman for the U.S. Border Patrol Tucson Sector.
Agents attempted to stop a 2000 Ford F150 on the I-19 frontage road south of Amado, Soto said. The driver of the truck sped away from the agents and they terminated the pursuit for safety reasons.
The agents located the overturned vehicle a short time later and saw more than 60 bundles of marijuana spread across the road, Soto said.
The weight of the marijuana has not been determined, Soto said.

Pineville Police Have Person Of Interest In Hit-And-Run Crash
Pineville police believe they may have found the man responsible for seriously injuring a woman in a hit-and-run accident early Thursday.
Adela Diaz-Sanchez, 29, was walking to work at a nearby hotel along Willow Ridge Road when she was hit by a red pickup truck that left the scene around 7:30 a.m., authorities said. Investigators analyzed debris at the scene and thought the truck might be a Ford F150. They said the crash broke off the passengers side mirror and probably did damage to the right front turn signal. Police began checking the tag numbers of people who live in the neighborhood where the victim was hit and discovered resident Misael Gregorio Pablo owns a red Ford F150. According to authorities, Pablo was recently charged with driving while impaired and also had outstanding warrants.
Man hit by three cars while sitting on road
KANSAS CITY (AP) - A 37-year-old man was in critical condition yesterday after he was hit by three vehicles, which all drove away, police said.
Witnesses told police the man sat in the middle of a road with his back to oncoming traffic before he was hit about 3 a.m. yesterday in the Westport entertainment district in Kansas City.
The drivers might not have known they hit a person, police said. At least two other drivers told police they initially thought something in the road was a black trash bag, which they narrowly missed hitting before realizing it was a person.
The three vehicles that might have hit the man were described as a late 1990s or early 2000 mid-size General Motors sport utility vehicle, champagne or gold in color, with Missouri license plates; a green or teal Ford F150 truck, possibly with a pinstripe; and a small dark-colored compact car, possibly a Pontiac Sunfire.
