Super Bowl XXXVIII - Ford GT "The One"
Before Bold Moves, Ford did cool stuff like this. Opening with a sweet burnout and filled with a minute's worth of eye and ear candy, we followed this red Ford GT around the track with big grins on our faces (which we simultaneously stuffed with chips & salsa and whatever the hell else we had on hand). "The One," as it's called, aired during the Bowl XXXVIII pregame show, and it's as good now as it was then. Follow the jump to watch it.[Source: YouTube] .
DFW Elite Car Club.com Rolls Out the Red Carpet for Ford GT
/24-7PressRelease/ - DALLAS, TX, February 17, 2007 - DFW Elite Car Club.com is welcoming a brand-new member to its fleet, and car enthusiasts are lining up to put it in drive. The 2006 Ford GT, one of only a few hundred GTs made for the 2005-2006 model run, is the latest addition to the club's stable of luxury autos. No GTs are being produced for 2007. "The GT was created in memory of the GT-40 that won the 24 Hours of LeMans in 1966," explained DFW Elite Car Club.com owner Ron Sturgeon. "The limited production run, coupled with the sheer power and beauty of this car, makes driving the Ford GT a remarkable automotive experience that no car enthusiast wants to miss." The sleekly styled white car is adorned with blue racing stripes and has an ebony black interior. But with 550 horses under the hood and a top speed of 205 miles per hour, the Ford GT has proven it is more than just pretty.
Phoenix: Schumacher No. 1 in NHRA Top Fuel, Force Quali Streak ...
Force's son-in-law Hight has yet to back up his 4.636 at 327.74 mph from Friday evening to make it an official NHRA national record for his Auto Club Ford Mustang, but it's still the quickest run ever recorded in the Funny Car class and earned him his 16th career top qualifier award. Force's daughter Ashley will start sixth after clocking a career-best 4.730-second run in her Castrol GTX Ford Mustang.
"John [Force] was really pumped up before that round," Hight said. "He needs to quit waiting until the final session to qualify. We're all running a new clutch combo that Jimmy (Prock, crew chief) and I tested extensively in the off-season. John just started using it this weekend and he was complaining it was hard to hold the clutch pedal in. I told him Ashley didn't have any trouble with it.
Vics must watch 'pest' Perren
While Queensland has had the edge this summer over Victoria in the Ford Ranger Cup, today's one-day final should be a cracker.
The northerners won both contests during home-and-away rounds, but the two states have built serious rivalry, particularly over the past decade.
Last year's Pura Cup final was a painful experience for the Bushrangers at the Gabba. The Bulls squeezed the life out of the Vics and then kicked them when they were down.
Without Matthew Hayden, Andrew Symonds and Shane Watson, the Queenslanders look a fraction light in the batting stakes and will rely on the experienced Jimmy Maher to steer the ship.
Clinton Perren is a serial pest against Victoria, having scored valuable runs in the past.
The Bulls' bowling is, as always, their strength, with Andy Bichel, Ashley Noffke and James Hopes providing experience.
