Collectibles: Story of the year may be at Maisto
If last week's crop of upcoming new models didn't spark your hobby habit, check out this group of automotive collectibles for the new year.
Franklin Mint has a blue 2007 Mustang GT500 coming out that will be the only 1:24 scale model that I know of this car. They've also got a Guardsman Blue 1964 Ford Mustang convertible that's trimmed out with most of the options available on the real car that year.
Jeep fans will find the new Renegade CJ-7 to be a treat, with features such as a front windshield that tilts forward, removable doors and a roof that lifts off. And there's a very nice rose-colored (Sunset Coral) 1956 Thunderbird that sports a brown and white interior and hood and doors that open.
Meanwhile, the real story of the year may be unfolding at Maisto, maker of well-detailed, modestly priced models.
Martinsburg youth killed in accident on Cullison Road
MOUNT GILEAD — A young woman was killed when she ran a stop sign south of Martinsburg on Wednesday morning. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Jenalee Yoder, 16, Martinsburg, was southbound on Cullison Road. She drove her 2002 Pontiac Grand Am onto Ohio 586 into the path of a car driven by William A. Dalrymnple, 39, Zanesville. Yoder’s address was not given.
The Yoder car was struck broadside by Dalrymple’s 1992 Ford Thunderbird. Yoder was taken to Knox Community Hospital by Bladensburg EMS, then transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. She died of her injuries at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Dalrymple was taken to KCH by the Utica EMS. The patrol said Dalrymple was not wearing his seat belt. Whether Yoder was belted in is still under investigation.

2 injured in Homer Glen crash
A 31-year-old Homer Glen woman was airlifted Thursday to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood after a truck rear-ended the car she was driving.
Homer Township Fire Protection District personnel had to extricate the woman from her car, which took about 35 minutes, Will County sheriff's police spokesman Pat Barry said. The truck driver was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet with minor injuries, Barry said.
