| SPEED TV show 'Unique Whips' to feature Pirelli tires
The third season of television's "Unique Whips" on the SPEED channel will be kicked off tonight, Feb. 21, with an episode featuring basketball star LeBron James' Hummer H2 and recording star 50 Cent's Lamborghini. The show is shot on location at the Holbrook, N.Y., shop Unique Autosports. The shop is known for celebrity car customizing, taking entertainers' and athletes' luxury automobiles and turning them into "one-of-a-kind pieces of art," reports the show's Web site. Shop owner Will Castro and his crew will customize the vehicles with new Pirelli tires, among other products. The Hummer H2 will be fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Zeros while the Lamborghini will ride on P Zero Rossos. “We've expanded our crew and facilities to keep up with the demand and level of projects we are taking on," says Castro.
Lamborghini Miura to become a reality?
You can roar up the road in a Ferrari Enzo, Porsche Carrera GT, or Mercedes-Benz SLR (if you can get your hands on any of those), but you may soon have another option when it comes to a super speedy halo car. Lamborghini fans, prepare to wet your pants, because word is that the Miura could be heading into production. The retro-styled coupe will likely make use of the same architecture as the Audi R8 supercar and find its power from a modified version of the monstrous 6.2L V12 currently planted in the Murcielago. The limited production Miura has a definite lower-key appearance than its Gallardo and Murci counterparts, but it will surely be just as fast and nimble. Of course, this is still in the "rumblings on the interweb" stage, so we'll just have to sit tight until the automaker makes some kind of official announcement.
Super-rare Lamborghini finds a new home
For the 1968 Brussels Motor Show, legendary design house Bertone took the wraps off of the Lamborghini Miura Roadster. The Miura, one of the earliest exotic supercars, was first unveiled at Turin in 1965 with a body designed by Nuccio Bertone, so who better than him to chop off the roof? Like other Lambo roadsters since, the Bertone Miura was really more of a targa, only while the modern-day Murcielago Roadster's roof might be a pain and a half to put up, at least it has a roof. Bertone's Miura Roadster never had one at all. While the design was copied by many, only one authentic example was ever produced. The roadster version of the Miura never saw production, and the prototype was sold to a metal consortium as a publicity showcase. It changed hands several times since then, at one time joining the collection at the Boston Museum of Transportation.
Desert Snipers - Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Photo Shoot
I love movies; even bad movies are entertaining for me. In the early 90's there was a movie about snipers starring Billy Zane and Tom Berringer, that while not the greatest movie, it was definitely entertaining. A great guy movie. To sum it up; you have Berringer the older experienced sniper who has been in the jungle so long he has lost most of his humanity. Then you introduce Zane; the young, top of his class sharp shooter who has incredible talent but no experience. They are forced to work together and drama ensues. Not an incredibly original story line, but the look into the workings of a sniper team is interesting. Again not the greatest movie, but for some reason I kept thinking about it on this last shoot with the all new Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. European Car's Editor Les Bidrawn was leading this hunt.
Asus Lamborghini VX2 taken for a spin
Asus has been busy beavering away on a new version of its Lamborghini laptop. The Lamborghini VX2 replaces the outgoing VX1, ever-so-slightly shaming it in the process. We had the pleasure of fondling one recently and we're pretty stoked by it. We've always thought we might look a bit sad if we used a Lambo laptop in public, but we've no such reservations about the VX2 -- it oozes class. As before, there's a yellow version made from aluminium magnesium-alloy, and a black version with carbon-fibre detailing. Both have sublime little touches like a wheel rim-esque exhaust fan and, our favourite, a leather palm-rest with yellow stitching -- Asus obviously has a thing for dead cows. The 4:3 display on the VX1 has been dumped in favour of a swanky new widescreen 15.4-inch model tied to a GeForce Go 7700 with 512MB of dedicated memory -- far nicer than the old Go 7400.
