Hawks don't expect league to punish Ruutu

As they finished practice Friday, the Blackhawks were under the impression that because they hadn't heard anything from the NHL offices, Tuomo Ruutu wouldn't be disciplined for his game-misconduct boarding penalty on the Sharks' Kyle McLaren in the final minute of Thursday's 2-0 loss.

That may be a bit presumptuous, however. According to an NHL spokesman, the league could issue a ruling any time before the Hawks' next game, which is Sunday against the Blues.

Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR 722 Edition

The 722 or the Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR 722 Edition to quote its full name is a limited run of tweaked SLRs, named after the Mercedes 300 SLR that British racing legend Stirling Moss and his co-driver Dennis Jenkinson drove to victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia race from Brescia to Rome and back. The number actually refers to the time - 07:22am - that they started the grueling 1000-mile race, and they completed it at a record-breaking average speed of 100mph.

Becker served up F1 treat.

Former Wimbledon champion and world tennis number one Boris Becker completed his Kingdom of Bahrain tour with a visit to the Bahrain International Circuit and the third day of Formula One testing at the venue.

As the new ambassador of Bahrain's Riffa Views, Becker was taken on a tour of the Sakhir Tower where he witnessed the day's activities before being invited by McLaren-Mercedes for a private tour around the team.

An avid F1 – and McLaren - fan, Becker was thrilled to be given a closer insight into the workings of the team.

"I love Formula One and McLaren is my favourite team," the seven-time Grand Slam winner said. "I've got to know the members well over the last few years so it is great to see them again and to be able to wish them well for the season."

Silver Arrow Droptop: Mercedes McLaren SLR Convertible Confirmed

Just as reported late last year, Mercedes confirmed the new convertible McLaren SLR is on the way. The SLR droptop is slated for a summer debut, just in time for "the season," in bougie parlance. For visual guidance, we direct your attention to the auspicious 1999 Vision SLR concept convertible, one of the two concepts that introduced the world to Mercedes-McLaren's partnership at the Frankfurt motor show. (The Vision SLR coupe debuted in Detroit earlier that year.) No word on engine or power or price yet. We'll know more around the time we can wear white again. – Mike Spinelli

Paris Rétromobile 2007

For 10 days or so in February every year, 27,000 sq mts of exhibition space in south west Paris is transformed into a Mecca for classic motoring enthusiasts. Returning after a two-year break, I thought it was one of the best yet, and on an opening day when pretty one anyone who was anyone in the collectors car industry was present, it soon became apparent that Paris Rtromobile cannot afford to be missed.

As ever, the exhibition had several themes, some set by the inevitable French motor industry presence, and some by the organisers whod made a special central display showcasing the cars - and drum kit - of well-known collector and racer Nick Mason. On the stand were one of his pre-War LM Aston Martin Ulsters, a 1970 Ferrari 512S, the immortal Ferrari 250 GTO, a Le Mans Porsche 962, a McLaren F1 GTR (that I last saw outside Alfred Dunhills flagship store in London) and other cars, too many to mention, that make up the Ten Tenths fleet.
