SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The sporty sedan is a motor vehicle segment drenched in Americana, and you have to chuckle at the way it is routinely marketed to the populace. The sport-sedan premise supports the theory that Dad and Mom might have other plans for the family car after dropping the kids off at school ... say, seeing how quickly they can rip it from zero to 60 miles per hour on a deserted stretch of road outside of town. Do normally sedate citizens do this type of thing? One can only imagine. But supposing they do. What kind of car might they want to fulfill their road-warrior fantasies? A 2007 Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart sedan would do the trick. The Ralliart was added to the Galant lineup for the current model year.
Alleged teen hoon dad in court
A police spokesman claimed a Mitsubishi Lancer and a Mitsubishi Colt were revving their front wheels that caused plumes of smoke and excessive noise in the Henson Street car park at 1.30pm. The Mitsubishi colt driver is alleged to have had his daughter in the rear of the vehicle. The man's case was remanded to allow him to seek legal advice. He is due to reappear again on February 16. Local Mitsubishi unit to expand, add jobs
Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc. said it will expand operations at its Marshall Township headquarters and add 75 jobs. As reported in the Pittsburgh Business Times on Feb. 2, the company will add nearly 100,000 square feet of office, warehouse and production space adjacent to its current facilities at the RIDC Thorn Hill Industrial Park in Marshall Township.

Mitsubishi Motors posts first profit in four years
Mitsubishi Motors posted a quarterly profit for the first time in four years, helped by better unit sales and a weaker yen.
Net income totaled 4.3 billion yen ($35.7 million), in the three months through December, compared with a loss of Y4.3 billion a year earlier. Turnover was almost unchanged at Y538.7 billion, but operating profit surged 7-fold to Y11.9 billion from Y1.6 billion. The carmaker has tightened its focus on sport-utility vehicles and is begun to turn around its weak base in the US, cutting sales to car-rental companies in order to lift per-unit profit margins. Analysts believe the worst may be over for MMC, especially if the yen sustains its current exchange rate. The company is sticking with its Y8 billion net income forecast for the full business year through March 2008.

AN POLICE car that could be straight out of a James Bond film is making a major impact in tackling Welsh crime. Since South Wales Police bought a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX last year, many criminals who might previously have fancied their chances in a chase, have offered no resistance and pulled over to the side of the road. The Japanese manufacturer's flagship sports car, which retails for around £35,000, has a maximum speed of 157mph and accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 4.5 seconds. It is the latest in the "Evo" series started in 1992. The IX was launched at the New York International Auto Show in 2005. South Wales Police decided it would provide a vital tool in the force's crime fighting strategy. The force is among the first in the UK to acquire one. Sergeant Paul Standing, who runs the car's team, said, "It's a fantastic car that's already helped us catch a lot of criminals.
