| Theft of $1100 puppy sees animals' freedom curtailed
An expensive puppy has been stolen in a brazen daylight raid on a pet shop. Jason Dinnington was dealing with a customer at the back of his shop when a young woman wearing a long coat made off with a 10-week-old pomeranian foxy cross. The small, tan, "very fluffy", long-haired puppy cost $1100 and was one of two pups from the same litter playing in a pen at the front of Pet Village in Jellicoe Rd, Panmure. Mr Dinnington says the thief went into the store earlier in the day with another woman and asked about the price, age and breed of the dog. She later returned, tucked the puppy inside her coat and made off with the animal. He says the woman ran into a side street where her accomplice was waiting in a car and drove off towards Panmure's roundabout and main street.

East Rockaway
An Inwood woman, 56, was arrested Jan. 31 at Atlantic and Rhames avenues and charged with drunken driving.
Elmont
A 2005 Nissan Maxima was stolen Feb. 2 from Amethyst Street.
Elmont Memorial High School was broken into through a front door
Feb. 3. Two cell phones and files were among the items stolen.
Freeport
A 34-year-old man was arrested Jan. 30 and charged with theft of merchandise from Marshall's on East Sunrise Highway.
A 1989 Toyota Camry was stolen Jan. 31 from a Green Avenue location.
Peugeot 207 has a positive affect on Avis Rental customers
Peugeot's new 207 has received positive feedback from Avis Rent a Car customers, following the inclusion of 300 vehicles on its UK rental fleet.
Avis customers were among the first people in the country to drive the new 207. In a ground breaking initiative and a technology first for both companies, rental customers were encouraged to leave feedback on the car using WAP technology through their mobile phone. Peugeot has been monitoring their response for the past six months.
Renters were asked to respond to 16 questions, based on their rental experience with the 207. From the results, 82% of Avis customers thought the 207 was better or much better than other vehicles in its class, and 86% said they would like to rent the 207 again in this car group.
50% of rental customers enjoyed the experience so much that they would consider the 207 as a possible future vehicle for themselves or their family.
