The three new vehicles offer significant upgrades and enhancements, including the addition of new Titan Long Wheelbase King Cab and Crew Cab models, a new 5.6-liter V8 engine for Pathfinder, and new exterior and interior designs for Armada. The three new 2008 Nissan vehicles are scheduled to be available at Nissan dealers nationwide beginning in spring 2007. The addition of the Titan Long Wheelbase models and the first-ever V8 engine ever offered in the 22-year history of Pathfinder expand the available choices for buyers of these two popular vehicles," said Larry Dominique, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc.
Nissan workers to hit million-vehicle milestone today
Workers at Nissan Motor Co.�s Canton plant will finish their 1 millionth vehicle later today. The company plans a celebration this afternoon as a 2007 Nissan Titan Crew Cab SE pickup rolls off the truck assembly line.
The 1 million production mark is a milestone for the plant. Two Nissan executives and Gov. Haley Barbour are expected to speak.
The Canton plant officially opened May 27, 2003, when the first production vehicle, a Quest minivan, was completed.
Canton�s sister plant in Smyrna Tenn., which opened in 1983, didn�t hit the million-vehicle milestone until July 1989.
When it opened, it produced only one vehicle model, whereas within a year of Canton�s opening, it was producing five models. .
Nissan releases more images and info on trio of 2008 trucks
Perhaps looking to increase the buzz factor before the 2007 Chicago Auto Show next week, Nissan has released even more images and info on the trio of trucks it will be debuting, which includes the 2008 Titan, Armada and Pathfinder. To recap, the Titan gets a new long-wheelbase version with a 7-foot bed, as well as an off-road PRO-4X trim. The one and only engine is an updated 5.7-liter V8 now producing 317 horsepower and 385 ft-lbs. of torque, which is good for a top tow-rating of 9,500 lbs. that falls below that of the domestics and Toyota's new Tundra. The Armada gets a refreshened face up front, but the bigger news is on the inside where a new dash makes this full-size SUV an easier ship to sale. Finally, the Pathfinder also gets styling tweaks inside and out, but it's big news is under the hood where a 300-horsepower 5.6L V8 is now an option.
Canton Nissan rolls out 1 millionth vehicle
As the bright red Titan pickup broke through a banner across the truck assembly line this afternoon at Nissan Motor Co.�s Canton plant it also broke a record for workers there. The truck was Canton�s 1 millionth vehicle produced.
"Hitting the million-unit mark is a production milestone," said Dave Boyer, vice president of Canton manufacturing.
The plant plant officially opened May 27, 2003, when the first production vehicle, a Quest minivan, was completed. The 4,000 employee plant hit the mark years sooner than its sister plant in Smyrna Tenn. That plant opened in 1983 with one model and didn�t hit the million-vehicle milestone until July 1989.
The number of models the Canton plant makes � five within a year of its opening � helped it reach the milestone quicker.
