Have we overdone the GT-R coverage yet? We didn't think so, either. This is a pretty hotly anticipated player in the sports/GT segment and we can't get enough of it. After discovering a new GT-R on California's freeways recently, the spy photogs decided to give chase and ended up driving all the way to Sonoma. The Nissan team was apparently headed to Infineon Raceway at Sear's Point to dial in the new super Skyline for final production tire and wheel specs. The Edmund's team reports that the turbo all-wheel-drive Nissan was unofficially clocked as running within tenths of a second of the 997 Turbo Porsche the group had brought along for comparison. PCCGB: Caine joins Parker for '07 campaign.

Michael Caine has become the latest major contender to unveil his 2007 Porsche Carrera Cup GB campaign after signing to lead the Team Parker Racing squad into the new season.

Caine finished sixth in his debut Carrera Cup season last year, and now believes that joining Stuart Parker's team will allow him to mount a serious challenge for the title. The former TVR Tuscan and GT ace will head a three-car team from the squad that has taken Damien Faulkner to the last two Carrera Cup titles.

"I've known Stuart a long time and we always said that one year I'd race for them," he said. "I always wanted to try and do it. Tim Harvey feels that he is with the best team for 2007 and I also feel that I'm with the best team!"

Parker is delighted to have confirmed his lead driver and has already signed a second driver.

Durban A1GP Team by Team Weekend Preview

Team India is set to blast off the starting line with Narain Karthikeyan making his second start for the squad. Kathikeyan netted India its first ever A1GP point in his first run with the team in Taupo and doubtless the Indians are expecting a better result this time out.

The Swiss team also greats an old friend with the return of Neel Jani who missed Eastern Creek with a hand injury. Jani comes back to the team after he took in Champ Car's two-day test session at Houston and ran ran atop the charts.

New faces: well, Emerson Fittipaldi reached into Brazil's deep well of racing talent and came up with Champ Car driver Bruno Junqueira who's street racing smarts will come heavily into play for the team in this event.

Then there's F3 Euro race winner Jonathan Summerton who will replace Phil Giebler behind the wheel of the stars and stripes entry and the American's northern cousins added Kevin Lacroix to the team as a rookie driver.

Secret 4-door Porsche in SA!

A trio of slightly disguised Porsche Panameras were caught out and about in dusty Clarens where a Wheels24 reader snapped the new four-door model.

Though only scheduled for an official appearance at the 2009 Geneva Show, the eagerly anticipated fourth model from Zuffenhausen is billed to go head-to-head with the Aston Martin Rapide (shown to great acclaim at the Detroit Motor Show early this year) and the established Mercedes-Benz CLS that spawned the four-door coupe segment.

Though the Panamera builds strongly on the values captured in the 911 range, the range will likely be introduced with V8 power only. The newcomer will however do away with the traditional rear-mounted engine layout in favour of front-mounted units.

Three powerplants are expected in the range including a 221-kW 3.5 litre unit sourced from Volkswagen, and Porsches own eight-cylinder petrol engine developing 260 kW in naturally aspirated mode, or a head-snapping 415 kW in twin-turbo guise.

2011 Audi R4

Despite the fact that Porsche is the new majority shareholder of the Volkswagen Group, Audi continues to pursue an ambitious sports car strategy. In addition to the just-introduced R8, Audi is now looking at two additional mid-engine R models. While a proposed R6, aimed squarely at the Porsche Cayman, has been put on the back burner for being "politically incorrect at this point in time" (in the words of one insider), the smaller R4 has just entered the initial evaluation phase. .
