Porsche Panamera scoop

CAR Online has snared the best spy photos yet of Porsche's new four-seater, the Panamera. Think of it as a four-door version of the 928 - a four-seater GT to bridge the gap between the hard-core 911 sports car range and the Cayenne 4x4. We won't see the Panamera in showrooms before 2009, with prices stretching from 54,000-84,000. Read on for the full lowdown on the most exciting sports saloon to reach the market in years.

Carrera GT3 Conversion

Following changes to the interior and undercarriage, we finally address the most visible GT3 aspect: aerodynamics. Of all 911 models, the GT3 is the most recognizable. Its ground-effect appendages provide visual cues, but the dead giveaway is the tabletop bi-wing.

Yet, aggressive as it is, the full body package somehow maintains an ideal balance of beauty, form and functionality. Although aftermarket versions of the kit are available, we've used nothing but authentic GT3 aero components from Tequipment, Porsche's factory-engineered range of vehicle accessories. This meant there would be no change in quality and fit. Plus, with the help of McKenna Porsche and its dealer-certified collision repair facility, all items were painted and installed by trained technicians, further ensuring a level of quality Porsche owners come to expect.

Tech 9 confirms British campaign.

Having confirmed an entry into the GT2 class of the FIA GT Championship, Tech 9 has announced a return to the British GT series in 2007 with a single car in the GT3 class.

Matt Harris and Oliver Bryant will share driving duties in the Porsche 997, with the latter having already raced for the team in the FIA GT3 European Championship last season.

Tech 9 will run the 997 solely in the British championship, while also fielding three cars in the FIA GT3 series, where it will hope to defend the title won last season by Sean Edwards.

An update package for the car and improved tyres from Avon should see the 997 among the frontrunner in the series, while former Tech 9 driver Piers Masarati has been brought in as team manager for the both the British and FIA GT3 programmes.

Rahal Letterman Racing concludes Sebring test

Ralf Kelleners and Tom Milner both spent extensive time behind the wheel as preparations continued for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring on March 17, the start of the American Le Mans Series season. .

Porsche Rails at Emissions Caps That Favor Ghosn's Smaller Cars

Feb. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Porsche AG is under threat from the drive to combat global warming, Chief Executive Officer Wendelin Wiedeking says.

Wiedeking has joined with other German luxury-car makers to protest a mandatory European Union cap on carbon-dioxide emissions that he says favors companies such as Renault SA and Fiat SpA that produce smaller vehicles.

``This is a business war in Europe,'' Wiedeking, 54, told shareholders at Stuttgart's Porsche Arena on Jan. 26. ``It's the French and Italians up against the Germans.''

The European Commission is proposing binding limits because carmakers risk missing voluntary targets. The commission plans to outline a preliminary proposal tomorrow in Brussels. Carlos Ghosn of France's Renault says it's time the industry did more to protect the environment.
