Toyota Tundra Triumphs over Chevrolet and Nissan in Edmunds ...
SANTA MONICA, Calif.--Inside Line, Edmunds' high-speed online car magazine and the most-read automotive enthusiast Web site, today announced that the 2007 Toyota Tundra squeaked by the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado to win the 2007 Half-Ton Pickup Truck Comparison Test. The Inside Line editorial team recently compared three 4X4 full-size half-ton trucks, each equipped with a heavy-duty engine and optional trailer-towing packages. The trucks were tested on their capability, performance, price and feature content. Following the team's usual protocol, the comparison test included the winner of the last test and all new and significantly redesigned models in the category. The vehicles in the test were: 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4WD Crew Cab LT2, with a four-speed automatic transmission, eight-cylinder 367-horsepower engine, towing capacity of 10,500 lbs.

Chicago Auto Show: 2008 Toyota Highlander revealed
Here in Chicago this morning Toyota unveiled the redesigned 2008 Highlander with the mantra Bigger! Wider! Safer! As you might imagine, the new crossover is larger in all dimensions, with a more powerful 3.5L V6 now cranking out 270 hp, 55hp more than the old one. It is still based on the Camry platform, although now it's the most recent edition, which is three inches longer and four inches wider. The ground clearance is also increased by and inch and the wheelbase gets three extra inches. As for the new styling, if you squint you can see a passing resemblance in the front end to the new 2007 Tundra. The biggest emphasis though was on safety. All Highlanders now have side curtain airbags for all three rows of seats as well as a knee bag for the driver. All will also get ABS, traction control, brake assist and stability control.
Nissan releases more images and info on trio of 2008 trucks
Perhaps looking to increase the buzz factor before the 2007 Chicago Auto Show next week, Nissan has released even more images and info on the trio of trucks it will be debuting, which includes the 2008 Titan, Armada and Pathfinder. To recap, the Titan gets a new long-wheelbase version with a 7-foot bed, as well as an off-road PRO-4X trim. The one and only engine is an updated 5.7-liter V8 now producing 317 horsepower and 385 ft-lbs. of torque, which is good for a top tow-rating of 9,500 lbs. that falls below that of the domestics and Toyota's new Tundra. The Armada gets a refreshened face up front, but the bigger news is on the inside where a new dash makes this full-size SUV an easier ship to sale. Finally, the Pathfinder also gets styling tweaks inside and out, but it's big news is under the hood where a 300-horsepower 5.6L V8 is now an option.
